Continuing Professional Development Online

Continuing professional development (CPD) is required for the ongoing registration of medical practitioners in South Africa.
Annually 30 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are require of which 5 must be on ethics & law which can all be acquired
through the journal online programmes with each issue of SAMJ, CME or other journals worth 3 CEUs. CPD questionnaires
can be completed online, the results and answers obtained and the required certificate printed immediately.

Participants in the online CPD programmes, must be members of SAMA, relevant professional body or a journal subscriber.
For registration go to www.cpdjournals.org.za. Do not use Google or Firefox – type the whole address on the URL bar.
This takes you to the Home page which has ‘CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPNET’ on top. On the right hand side
there is ‘password’ and ‘register’ and submits all your details. The system will then email username and password.
