  • The highest professional and ethical standards will be maintained, defending at all times the principles of Freedom of the Press in relation to the collection of information and the expression of comment and criticism, while striving to eliminate distortion, news suppression and censorship.
  • Editorial content shall be fair and accurate, avoiding the expression of comment and conjecture as established fact and falsification through the selection or misrepresentation of facts.
  • Information, photographs and illustrations shall be obtained through straightforward means, the only justification for deviation being overriding considerations of public interest.
  • Nothing will be done which intrudes on private grief or distress.
  • Confidential sources of information shall be protected.
  • Bribes and other inducements will not be accepted to influence the performance of professional duties, nor will the truth be distorted or suppressed because of advertising or other considerations.

  • Nothing shall be done which encourages discrimination on the grounds of race, colour, creed, gender or sexual orientation.
  • Material shall not be plagiarised. Attribution of the source of information shall be made in the writing of all articles, unless the publication of such information is deemed to be, potentially harmful to the source itself, such determination to be made in consultation with the editor.
